Happy Hallo... oh, crap!

I usually spend Halloween terrorizing my co-workers, which is probably why I missed this nightmare-inducing Chibi-esque version of Dracula in bat form by rack911. He refers to it as "cute bat", which I hope was meant as sarcasm! Click here to see this little monstrosity in his native habitat.

Thanks to Bruce over at Bricktales for the tip!

I love it when a MOC comes together

"In 1972, a crack commando unit of bizarre stereotypes was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. Probably didn't commit. I mean, it was the Seventies, people smoked a lot of weed back then. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground (no, I didn't think LA had a subway system either). Today, still wanted by the government and locked perpetually in the Eighties, they survive as soldiers of fortune, despite the fact that no-one they spray machine-gun fire at ever seems to bleed actual blood. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, if it absolutely positively has to be there overnight, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team. Actually, they're not that hard to spot, just look out for that crazy ass van of theirs. Look, there it goes now..."

Yes, it's the A-team! Built by the one and only Ralph Savelsberg (aka Mad physicist) for a chase themed LUGNuts building contest. A staple of my Saturday evening as a teenager, this show was more Eighties than Ronald Reagan in shoulder pads and hammer pants solving a Rubik's cube. I literally pity the fool that does not remember it!

Small wonders

Long time readers of this blog will know that as well as LEGO, the Eighties, and long walks on beaches, I'm also a big fan of a little product from Japan called nanoblock. At one time, nanoblock was hard to come by in the US. Then a US distributor was found, so now its on the shelves in every toy store.

But while browsing on Amazon recently, I was excited to discover that the product line has ballooned! Gone are the days when nanoblock was all about zoo animals and famous monuments. Here's a sampling of what's currently on offer these days...

Musical instruments

Olympic sports

Icky bugs!

Tin-Tin (...yay, 1st licensed theme!)

And of course more animals...

And some more monuments too...

Plus all kinds of other random stuff!

Head on over to Amazon right now and take a look and buy stuff.

Gobble up yours today!

Thomas Poulsom's ever-growing series of LEGO birds is now a veritable ornithological cornucopia (...wow that's quite a mouthful!). And speaking of mouthfuls, Tom was just commissioned by the Martha Stewart Living blog to create this spectacular turkey, in celebration of that most eat-iest of American holidays, Tanksgorging Thanksgiving.

And it's worth pointing out here that the hallmark of a true LEGO artist is that they even finish off the parts of the model people would never normally see...

As a "resident alien" of these parts, I neither comprehend nor celebrate Thanksgiving, but am simply required to observe the behqavior of the dominant species, and report my findings back to the mothership. But I'm happy to partake of the odd candied yam or slice of pie if someone insists in putting it in front of me. In the interests of science.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, you colonial wierdos!

I'm Rebootman

English teen builder George G knocked out these excellent miniland scale versions of Batman and Bane from the recent Batman movie trilogy...

Talking of which, was that a Chris Nolan Superman movie I just saw a trailer for the other day? Because apparently what this world doesn't have enough of is classic superhero reboots. I hear they're even thawing out Wonder Woman now. No, for real. I'm serious. Google it...

It's a long way down the holiday road

If you don't recognize this scene by Joe Klang (aka -derjoe-), then you won't understand why it's just so totally awesome!

Moko's new style of Chibi figures (that I featured a while back) seem to be doing the rounds amongst our Japanese cousins. Here is LEGOROBO's rendition of Lynn Minmay (リン・ミンメイ) from the classic anime serial Macross.

Although I think given the age of the material and the amount of interpretation required at this scale, you probably need to see the character this is actually based on! Here you go...

Blowfishin' It!

If you watch the show Breaking Bad then you'll definitely appreciate this homage by Bruce Lowell. And if you don't watch the show, then you probably need to! Or so I'm told.

(Note to self: Start watching the TV show Breaking Bad)

Bruce (the second-dreamiest one in this photo) is currently locking horns with Derfel Cadarn in what could turn out to be another epic Iron Builder contest, which I'll be summarizing here once the battle is over and asses have been handed out.

Achievement unlocked

Thankyou Chris Maddison. You just created the perfect Valentines day card for AFOLs!

It's funny because it's true. Don't stab.
