Felicitacious resurrection-and-candy day!

Creme Egg by powerpig
Creme Egg, a photo by powerpig on Flickr.

Be strong. We can get through this with our arteries intact, if we're smart. I lay in until the younglings had consumed all the chocolate items. Uh oh... I think I smell Hollondaise sauce. Run, save yourselves!

Quad Mocha

Builders continue to get busy (and creative) as entries pour into for the MOCAthalon contest. Kinda makes you wonder what everyone is doing all the rest of year! Here are four more of my favorites, for your amusement. Click through for details (but don't worry, they're all on Flickr).

Will you still need me, will you still feed me..."

Chris's recent Apple Mac was officially epic, but imho his follow-up is so pant-wettingly Eighties-tastically nostalgia-gasmically epic, it makes me want to head on over to eBay RIGHT NOW and pick up an original unit! (...hmmm, and probably some Purell too).

The game is a foot

The 2013 MocAthalon seems to have generated a flurry of builds in the past few weeks. Seems like everything I come across is somehow being slotted into some category of the contest! Below are some that tickled my fancy (click through for details).

Ironically, most entries can also be found on Flickr. Hmmmm... Methinks maybe it's time for a Flick-athalon, or Flick-lympics?

Building Bilbo Baggins

Original content? Shock, horror! As promised a while ago, here finally is my narrated slide show documenting the design and construction of my Bilbo and Gollum figures.

Enjoy! Well, enjoy as much as you can given my turgid drone and all those still images. But at least if you flip the video player into 1080p HD and Full Screen mode, you can enjoy them in their original glory!

Seeing Red

It seems like every traditional fairytale character is getting the bad-ass superhero treatment in film and television these days. So this take on Little Red Riding Hood by Evan B. (aka Lego Junkie) makes perfect sense...

Apparently she's a member of something Evan calls The Blightkill, who are "a rough and tumble group of traumatized fairy tale characters with a vendetta and a lust for blood". I'm kinda hoping he reveals some other members of this clan soon too!

Trouble and strife

This is no ordinary dragon! You may recognize this creation by GTAhelper as the lady dragon (and Donkey's eventual spouse) from the movie Shrek. As well as featuring a mix of several different shades of pink (yummmmy!), it also makes effective use of different building techniques to overcome the somewhat limited range of brick types available in these colors (notice the Bram-style plating for the head, but regular studs-up brickwork for the body).

Check out the full set of images, including models of the babies, here.

Because ants are people too

Riccardo Zangelmi introduces us to Tom the Ant, who curiosity is about to send him on a grand adventure. Hopefully one that is completely free of magnifying glasses.
