Hi there! After five glorious years, I have decided to retire this blog.
Feel free to visit my Flickr or YouTube channels instead.
Or follow my latest blogging exploits over at the Brothers Brick.

So this happened...

Beyond the Brick is a long-running podcast channel about LEGO fandom. A while back they moved from audio podcasts to YouTube videos, and their recent coverage of BrickWorld 2013 is some of the most thorough behind-the-scenes coverage of a Lego con that I have ever seen.

Joshua and Matthew were kind enough to invite me on the show for their latest episode! We laughed, we cried, I hammed it up, cats were abused, and (at about the 1hr mark) I totally turned the tables on them, with a few 'viewers questions' and also the unveiling of this, which I built especially for the broadcast...

It was a fun hour, and we exchanged many crazy stories of our convention experiences, hated on Flickr some, and then I bored everyone to death with the back stories to my latest Lego creations. We laughed, we cried, oh wait I already said that!

The blessed Royal event has occurred. Check the Internet for details. Now get back to work, loyal subjects! Oh, and you can uninstall the Royal Baby app from your iPhone now too...

"Let the business men handle it, dude!"

Employees at FREDERATOR STUDIOS (makers of such math cartoons as Adventure Time, Bravest Warrirors and Bee & Puppycat) just Lego-oized their conference table! Goes perfectly with those skateboard seats.

Speechless!

Meal Ticket

At the risk of tearing a whole in the fabric of the blogosphere (or incurring a lifetime ban for Tommy) here's a second GeekyTom related post! In a master stroke, Tommy has Lego-ized the logo of one of my favorite web comics The Oatmeal. And by a complete co-incidence, both Tommy and Oatmeal creator Matt Inman are appearing at San Diego Comic Con this week. So if you're attending the Con, look out for a pair of wierdos engaged in a bizarre ritual of mutual adoration! Oh, and look out for Tommy's talk about Lego as an Art Form too. (Hey, don't snicker, we're artists you know!)

You know, for AFOLs...

My Bricks O' Character partner in crime Tommy Williamson (aka GeekyTom) has created a brand new Lego blog! It's called BrickNerd and has already featured a ton of great MOCs both old and new (...oh, and I think I managed to get my ugly mug in there somehow too).

But still images are just soooooooo 19th century, which is why Bricknerd also comes in a YouTube flavor. And here is the very snazzy first episode!

With this and channels like Beyond the Brick (and my own feeble efforts, which barely count), I think the Lego Fan movement is totally ready for a shift to video. So here's hoping this show marks the beginning of something historic, like Epic Meal Time. Because I totally plan to be Muscles Glasses! Or in my case, more like Beardy Glasses, or Funny Accent Glasses.

Sharknado - The LEGO Edition

SyFy's latest catastrophe Sharknado was an Internet sensation last week! Which means it needs to exist in LEGO form. YOU'RE WELCOME.

Amazingly, this model actually stands up on its own (although its a bit wobbly, being very top-heavy). If I have the time I may add more sharks, improve the lettering, and strengthen it up enough to display at BrickCon.

Tank Top

Because clearly if the women ran everything they'd muck up basic stuff like war, sports, mysogeny, and so on. But at least everything would be color coordinated and there wouldn't be dirty socks all over the place.

Just fucking awesome LEGO Friends tank by Brickshelf user swormuth

Another fucking awesome shot with like scenery and dead people and shit

Best friends forever. Until I run you over in my ten ton purple death machine! This concept so needs to be on CUUSOO - screw all that science baloney and Delorean shopping trolleys, we need a 'Friends Anachronisms' theme. In other news, I *really* need to stop drinking coffee after midnight...

Completely, well... cuckoo!

Occasionally, amidst the colorful static that is Bionicle-based building, something wonderous emerges, such as this Chestnut-winged cuckoo by Brickshelf builder the-force-unbleached.
